The Campsite

Kestrel Lodge is a quiet, family friendly, Lakeland campsite suitable for tents and trailer tents. We are a traditional camping ground with a modern shower block, situated in a quiet corner of the National Park.

Sitting in an enviable position, below Skiddaw with views across the valley to Bassenthwaite Lake, Kestrel Lodge Campsite is surrounded by some of the best fell walking routes in the country. It’s a perfect base for exploring the Lake District and Northern Fells.

Keswick and Cockermouth are within a 15 minutes’ drive. You will find a large number of shops, cafes, restaurants, and other attractions. Within a short stroll away from the campsite is the village of Bassenthwaite, which has a great local pub, serving comforting hot food and traditional ale.

Kestrel Lodge Campsite is all about peace and tranquillity. We are located off the beaten track yet within easy access of everything. You really will feel like you are in the middle of the countryside, without being too far away from amenities.

We don't allow parking on the grass, but there is parking very close to where the tents are pitched, and a gravel road around site for you to use to load and unload while pitching up and decamping at the end of your stay. So don't worry, you don't have to hump your gear more than a few feet.

Electric hook-ups are available but in limited numbers. Booking would be recommended, so please call to avoid disappointment if you need electric! We've also just been granted planning permission for 2 pitches for campervans (T5 type vans -- small vans usually with no toilet/bathroom facilities in them). These are hard standing pitches with electric hook-up. Pre-booking is not only recommended, but pretty much essential for these pitches as they are so limited, and will book up quickly, and once these 2 pitches are gone, that's it, folks.

To book please call 017687 76752 or email to let us know you're coming.
