Rock Climbing and Ghyll Scrambling

The Lake District is a true haven for rock climbers, scramblers, abseilers, and ghyll scramblers, among other adventure activities.

Whether you prefer organized activities, the thrill of the Via Ferrata at Honister Slate Mine, or the adrenaline rush of tackling the rock with your friends, there are routes and ranges suitable for all skill levels. Some of the best climbing in the Lake District is just a few miles from Kestrel Lodge campsite in the area’s of the Newlands Valley, Buttermere, and the Borrowdale Valley.

For those who want to brush up their skills in doors there are three serious options within a twenty minute drive of Kestrel Lodge Campsite. Keswick Adventure Centre, Newlands Adventure Centre, and King Kong Climbing centre in the centre of Keswick. Both adventure centers also run organized climbing trips, ghyll scrambling sessions and so much more for those looking for more than your everyday adventure on the fells.
