Kestrel Lodge to Skiddaw Summit
13 and a half miles doesn’t sound that big a ride to some people, but when you add in the climb to the summit of the 4th highest mountain in the Lake District at 931m...it bloomin’ well is!
So the route is as follows..
1. From Kestrel Lodge head to Bassenthwaite village and carry on to the A591 passing the Parish rooms and Bassenthwaite primary school.
2. At the church turn left and carry on to the Millbeck turn off to the left. You’ll be riding with Bassenthwaite lake on your right and you’ll see Dodd wood on the left as you go.
3. Take the Millbeck turn to the left and keep following this road to a car park at the case of Skiddaw and Lattrigg fells.
4. At the car park you’ll take another left turn and follow the very distinct path upwards. Trust me, you can’t miss it...it just keeps on going up!
Distance: 13½ miles
