Lake District Wildlife Park

Just a 5 minute drive from Kestrel Lodge Campsite you will find the Lake District Wildlife Park. With a collection of several hundred animals this impressive wildlife park will keep you amused all day.

With birds of prey, reptiles, zebras, the adorable micro pigs, and loveable meerkats there’s something for everyone. Our absolute favourite were the gibbons. They’re so cheeky! The admission fee entitles you to stay all day and as well as wondering around the impressive grounds taking in the animals as you wish there are also several specific activities at different times throughout the day, like ‘meet the meerkats’ and bird of prey flying displays.

I visited the park with my two children who are 6 and 8yrs and we all had a fantastic time, there were plenty of families at the park but it was equally attended by couples.

There is a café and the usual gift shop but both are pretty low key. We didn’t use the café as we took our own picnic and there are several places to eat your pack up including a covered area if the weather is not too kind. There is a small children's play area right next to the donkey field so the kids can alternate between stroking a donkey and riding on the small peddle tractors. What more could you ask for?

The park is open daily from 10am – 5.30pm (except Christmas Day and New Year Day and winter closing is 4.00pm)
