Loweswater

Loweswater, 1 mile in length, ½ mile wide, and 60 feet deep, provides an excellent lake circuit for walkers (4 mile long circuit) and the only water sport allowed in or on the lake is swimming.

Nestled in a wooded valley, in the Vale of Lorton, Loweswater this peaceful lake that is often bypassed for lakes that are more central or dramatically surrounded.

It’s also unique within the Lake District, being the only lake that drains towards the centre of Lakeland into Crummock Water which it was once joined to. It’s also a favourite habitat for red squirrels, and they can often be spotted around the lake.
