Mirehouse & Gardens
Mirehouse is a family run historic house, open between April and October. The house is famous for its strong literary connections to Tennyson, Edward Fitzgerald, Thomas Carlyle and William Wordsworth. There are beautiful gardens, live piano music, accessible footpaths and impressive children's adventure playgrounds.
The gardens of the house stretch from Dodd Wood to Bassenthwaite Lake and include woodland play areas, a heather maze, a rhododendron tunnel, and a poetry walk for children and grownups.
Mirehouse and Gardens are open between the months 1st April – 31st October.
The gardens are open daily from 10am to 5pm. The house is open on Saturdays, Sundays and Wednesday afternoons (also Fridays in August) from 1.30 pm to 4.30 pm.
Mirehouse is located just three miles from Kestrel Lodge along the A591 towards Keswick.
