Friday 25th March - Sunday 4th September 2016
As part of The Calvert Trust’s Anniversary Celebrations, 2016 will see the central Lake District invaded by a flock of life sized decorated fantasy Herdwick ewes appearing in unexpected places - all paying homage to the Herdwick’s iconic status and all in support of their 40th Anniversary Capital Fundraising Drive. http://www.goherdwick.co.uk.
It’s like a giant treasure hunt. Just buy a map and see as many of these wonderfully decorated sculptures as you can. All proceeds from maps and merchandise will go to the Calvert Trust. A charity organization that provide life changing experiences for those with sensory, learning, and physical disabilities.
It’s happening all over the Lake District, so wherever you are, you’re not too far away from one of these works of art. Rydal, Grasmere, Ambleside, Keswick and Windermere – basically the 555 bus route – will be invaded by a flock of life sized decorated fantasy Herdwicks. Herdwick ewes in unexpected places; in parks, in the street, on buildings, in shops, cafes and restaurants – all paying homage to the Herdwick’s iconic home here in the Lake District; and all in the name of the Lake District Calvert Trust.
So the big question now is...where can you buy the maps? All over the place! Booths, George Fisher, The Rheged Centre, The Herdy Company, Bookends, Mire House, Dodd wood, and so many more! Check out the website for your nearest outlet. http://www.goherdwick.co.uk/trail-maps/
